The Emtek EMPowered Touchscreen Keypad Deadbolt is a touchscreen keypad lock which is unlocked from the outside using your phone via Bluetooth or WiFi and by code entry. From the inside unlocking is via thumb-turn or phone via Bluetooth or WiFi. It offers key-less entry meaning that there are no keys to lose or cylinders to bump or pick. This smart lock has an auto-unlock feature which enable it to know when you arrive and unlocks the door as you approach. This relies on a few different technologies in your phone, not only the Yale Access app but also your Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. When you’re at home, your Yale Access app will enter Home Mode and Auto-Unlock will not activate and will only activate when you leave home. When the Yale Access app sees you have left your neighborhood, Auto-Unlock will go into Away Mode, until you return home again. When you then return to within 200 ft from your home, your phone will start looking for your lock. Once you’re close enough to your door (20-30 feet) your door will Auto-Unlock and the app will go back into Home Mode. Auto-Lock can be set for immediate or on a timer for as short as 30 seconds or as long as 30 minutes meaning than you never have to be get worried about forgetting to lock your door

This lock is powered by 4 AA batteries with a backup of using a 9V battery when the batteries run out of power before being replaced. The entire lock is made from metal ensuring that there is no exposes plastic. Furthermore, it has a rubber gasket which protects it from weather elements. It has a tapered deadbolt which accommodates it for use on misaligned doors. Installation is simple as it is designed to easily fit on standard door and only requires a screwdriver when fitting.
